Chasing Fall Colors in the Fraser Valley

When the aspens turn gold, the Fraser Valley becomes one of Colorado's great autumn escapes.

Late September – early October 2026

Golden aspen trees in a Colorado mountain valley in autumn

For a few weeks each fall, the aspens that blanket the Fraser Valley turn brilliant gold, and the whole high country glows. It's quieter than summer and winter, cool and crisp — arguably the best-kept secret of the mountain calendar.

Time a late-September or early-October stay around the change, then hit the trails: the hikes and drives around Winter Park are spectacular when the leaves turn. The condo makes a cozy basecamp for sweater-weather mornings and color-soaked afternoons.

Peak timing shifts year to year with the weather — the local trail guides are the best place to track it.
